Techniques and Materials

Airstream trailers are built to last and that is why any modifications or upgrades must also be built to last. We use only the highest quality materials in our builds.

All of our cabinetry is built with 3/4" 13 ply or 1/2" 9 ply Baltic Birch plywood, never particle board or melamine.  All cabinet faces and doors are built with solid hardwood lumber. Our custom butcher block counters are glued and jointed to last a life time.

Our natural cabinetry finishes are hand applied stains and Dupont Polyurethane spray finishes. We use the same Wilsonart high pressure laminates used by the Airstream factory but with a higher temperature tolerant 3M lamination glue.

All of our cabinet doors are installed with soft closing hinges. All cabinet drawers are installed with self closing ball bearing roller guides.

When building structural components like bunk beds we use 1/8" wall aluminum which is riveted together to form a solid back bone for the build out.

All DC electrical connections are made with crimp connectors and are shrink wrapped for extra protection. Every AC connection made inside a UL approved junction box. All electrical work is done in wiring gauges that exceed the amp load by at least 25%. All wires passing through aluminum ribs or skin are insulated with an extra rubber bushing to keep from chafing down the road.

When re-plumbing classic trailers we use only residential grade PEX piping with the cold water done in blue and the hot water done in red to make any future modifications easier for the installers.

We know you have many choices for Airstream modifications, so when you choose us, we want to make sure that we have earned your business.
